  • Essay / Types and Effects of Bullying - 721

The issue of bullying is often ignored and not taken seriously. If you actually witness bullying, you will realize that it is a real problem. People experience bullying every day, whether it is verbal or physical. People should do more to help victims of bullying. I think bullying is a bad thing because it affects everyone in one way or another. Bullying is deliberately hurting someone in some way. This must be intentional and happen more than once. 2 out of 3 times, bullying happens at school. Most of the time, kids are bullied because of their appearance, and if they don't look a certain way, they make fun of it. The person's reaction to harassment depends on the situation. Most children who are bullied feel depressed and this causes them anxiety. There are different types of bullying. This can be verbal, such as saying something rude to someone to make them feel bad. Or it can also be physical, like fighting with another person who is weaker than you. Another type of harassment is cyberbullying, which takes place online. The last type of bullying is indirect bullying, which involves saying mean things about someone behind their back or spreading rumors about them. There are 3 people involved in the bullying, the victim who is the person being bullied and the actual bully who is causing the abuse and the last person involved is the bystander who sees the bullying occur. Often, bullying makes the victim feel bad about themselves and they begin to believe that what the bully says about them is true. Most of the time, the bully is simply looking for attention and wants to be noticed. They want to make themselves seem more important. Some bullies may even come from bad homes and that's what makes them act like this... middle of paper ... they are not focused and are afraid of what the bully is going to do or say to them. Bullies are likely to get into trouble, they can become violent, and as they get older, they could eventually get a criminal record. They could eventually end up losing their group of friends as they get older. They might even end up failing in school and not getting a good job when they grow up. Some bullies act the way they do because they have been hurt by bullies before, even by a parent or other adult. Some bullies actually suffer from personality disorders that don't allow them to understand normal emotions like guilt, empathy, compassion, or remorse. I think schools need to do more about bullying. This affects many children and prevents them from wanting to go to school to receive an education. This would make victims feel better about themselves. This is why I think the bullying should stop.
