Essay / Interpersonal Communication in Football - 730
Having looked at these two important communication events that took place, there are the positive and negative outcomes of how we interpret communication and how we actively listen to each other in the social situations. This caused the recipient (myself) to decode the message as negative due to their unnecessary and unethical behavior. Additionally, “decoding refers to the act of understanding messages” (Devito, 12). Some noises can impact the receiver and are caused by the sender. For example, “psychological noise is the mental interference in the speaker or listener and includes preconceptions, wandering thoughts, biases and prejudices, narrow-mindedness, and extreme emotionality” (Devito , 14). Instead of listening to my teammate when she tried to give me advice, I was so focused on how angry I was at the comment that had been made towards me that I didn't allow myself to control my actions. .
