The advantages of geothermal energy include: cheap, reliable, reduces dependence on fossil fuels, creates jobs, stimulates the economy, requires no fuel, environmentally friendly, the energy source is free and abundant. (Manchester Children's University, 2012). The disadvantages of geothermal energy include: limited space where geothermal power plants can be built, the geothermal site sometimes experiences a steam dry period, difficulty in controlling harmful gases and minerals from the earth (The Children University of Manchester, 2012). Other disadvantages of geothermal energy are: it cannot be easily transported, initial costs are high, financial risks are high, wells eventually become depleted, and geothermal fields are limited in a few parts of the world. (Energy4me, 2015). Technological advances have expanded the range and size of important resources and direct applications for things such as home heating (California Energy Commission, 2015). A geothermal field in California has one of the largest groups of geothermal power plants in the world, making California the suitable location for geothermal energy (California Energy Commission,
