Introduction: In today's societies, government and criminal justice systems are closely tied to ethics as they establish and enforce rights and specific homework. They also attempt to prevent and/or hold accountable anyone who deviates from these standards. (Wright 2012)I. Thesis: While all humanity should practice the principles of equality, soundness and human rights, it is extremely imperative that corrections professionals and the criminal justice system come together as a whole to build a fairer society. The United States Constitution guarantees that corrections professionals ethically follow the law.A). According to the legal dictionary, ethics is defined as “the moral principles that govern a person’s behavior.” Two main areas where the U.S. Constitution has implemented the outlines of behavior for correctional professionals are the Due Process Clause. In the Fifth Amendment which states: “No person shall be deprived of life, liberty, or property without due process of law,” which in this context applies to the federal government. The Fourteenth Amendment says exactly the same thing, this time referring to the states. For this to be mentioned twice, it must have high value. Vitek v. Jones is an excellent example of criminal due process. (Gottlieb, NR 1982) The Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment requires certain steps and guidelines to be followed for state prisoners who may be transferred without choice to a state that can provide a psychiatric hospital for the treatment of an illness or disease. Which means the correctional professions need more innovative people who can provide different options and varieties of rehabilitation. Inmates spend much of their time in institutions, so it's now up to Corrections to ensure they're ready to become citizens again.
