Essay / Sets and actors: what is staging? - 696
Overview: -The aim of the creative project is to become familiar with the aspects of directing by implementing them in a practical form. The second creative project will show how a certain degree of changes to the staging characteristics can lead to differentiation of genre and stage atmosphere without any changes to the script. By following aspects such as sets, props, decor, actors, lighting, costumes, makeup, space, time, and focusing on the rules that bind these commandments, an effort will be made to convey authenticity in the description of genres as well as in the creation of stage atmospheres. Creative project two will include a compilation of two scenes which will have exactly the same storyline and precise dialogues but the changes noticed in the staging of each will be the differentiating factor between the two. Each scene will last approximately 3-5 minutes, which would make the final cut between 8-10 minutes. During the creation of creative project two; The theoretical knowledge obtained during the research for the literature review will form the basis of the project and any additional information gathered should also be taken into account. Objectives of the study: -- Write a scenario that will not eclipse the contribution of the direction in any of the scenes, while fulfilling its role as an accomplice in the creation of scenarios.- Describe the role-playing of lighting, sets, props and scenery by unconsciously providing details to the audience. - Infer desired results in scenes by applying subtle changes to the actors' costume, makeup, physical gestures and vocal tones .- Contribution from the middle of paper ......f of the film either on a metaphorical or objective level. Actors are the only form of directing that portrays the characters in films through the use of gestures and movements. The performance is the only central element around which the story and the staging revolve (Corrigan, 2004). Gerald Millerson writes about the science behind how the human eye interprets light, about how lighting a frame with a specific purpose can fool what the audience sees. The book also goes on to explain the nature and intensity of lighting, an assessment of colors and how full color mixing achieves a desired result (Millerson, 1999). Costumes and makeup go even further by connecting the performance to the sets (Speidel). The transition can be shown through makeup and costume, but one can also get creative with makeup and make a young character appear older (Bordwell,1979).
