I remained very shy and quiet except in the presence of those close to me for most of my childhood. After connecting the dots and reflecting on my shy personality, it all comes back to events with an old best friend. In elementary school, I had a best friend who constantly cheated on me and went behind my back. Being raised with care, I am able to maintain this trust with people, but due to past events with a friend, I have discovered that it is extremely easy to lose this trust and it is difficult for me to win it.
