  • Essay / Why Alamo is the Worst Car Rental Company - 356

Why Alamo is the Worst Car Rental CompanyDuring Thanksgiving, my husband and I had the worst car rental experience. The long list of complaints started long before we rented the car. In the end, all I wanted was my money. I just had to figure out how to get her back. First of all, we booked the car on the Internet. A few days before our reservation, we learned that we had to pay with an American Express card. This posed a problem because neither of us had this type of credit card. So we changed the reservation to a corporate reservation under my husband's company which resulted in an increase in price. This dilemma was nothing compared to what we encountered from midnight to 2 a.m. at the rental counter. Initially my husband wanted to pay in cash. This particular location would not accept cash. We then tried to use his Discover card. This wouldn't work because Discover was updating its records. Additionally, our reservation was made through my husband's business account, which requires a business card to be presented at time of rental. At first, they didn't accept his business car because it was made of paper and, according to Alamo, it was too easy to make. We didn't have a plastic business card that they needed. We were never informed of the rules regarding what type of business card to present. Then we tried to pay with my credit card. We weren't successful because the car has to be in the name of the person paying for it. We then tried to put the car in my name. If we did this, we would not only lose the corporate discount, but we would also be charged $25.00 more per day because I was not 25 years old. At this point we had a few choices. We could go to another location and pay cash for the car and lose the corporate discount..
