Essay / Analysis of The Influencing Machine by Brooke Gladstone
If you've ever noticed, people tend to make comments all the time about the media and what they publish, "the media is full of bullshit", " everything they put out there that we see are lies,” and many other vulgar remarks, but we also notice that these people never seem to move away from the media. Instead, they continue to constantly check news sites and their social media because the media has taken control of them and their minds. Today's society is extremely absorbed in the world of media, so absorbed in it that even if one tried to give it up, one would not succeed. This example shows that the media is like a drug and that society is addicted to it, which further reinforces the irony that Gladstone speaks about.
