Essay / Parents and Their Children - 1157
As a child grows older, it may seem like a simple matter of blowing out a different number of candles each year. However, several psychological factors are involved in this process. These factors include the role of parents in the child's life, peer pressure, the culture in which the child is raised, and television. These factors together help shape a child's social development. Parents are seen as a role model and support for the child since birth. As a role model, their actions teach children the difference between right and wrong. As support, they provide love and care. In addition to love, care and knowledge, they exercise control and provide discipline. Not all parents are the same, as they are different individuals with different perspectives on how they want to raise their children. Because of these perspectives, the types of parents are, but are not limited to, authoritarian parents, authoritarian parents, permissive parents, and neglectful parents. Authoritarian parents, although the severity varies, are those who exercise complete control over their children and expect complete and unquestioned obedience. They often punish bad behavior and do not reason with politicians. This type of parenting is unsympathetic and reserved, creating space between them and their children. The results of this type of parenting style include, but are not limited to, a deficit in social skills and low performance levels in some children and higher academic achievement in others, such as in Asian culture. At a less severe but still strict end are authoritarian parents. Unlike authoritarian parents, authoritative parents set reasonable, achievable standards with limits. Additionally, this parenting style encourages reasoning and discussion of rules. Because middle of paper ...... role is difficult to set up. However, peer relationships show a link to parenting styles as well as culture. Therefore, in my opinion, assessing control over one can influence the other, which also results in balance. These psychological factors play a crucial role in child development. They are also very diverse and exhibit a range of varieties, resulting in individuals with all kinds of perspectives and behaviors. Without them, growing up would simply mean blowing out a different number of candles each year. With them, I believe another candle could mean one less rule or restriction from parents or an extra hour of television. With each change of candles, the film range also increases from PG to PG-13. Growing taller is not only a change in height and weight, but also a change in your psychological mindset and social skills..
