  • Essay / Analysis of Edward Snowden - 2018

IntroductionOn June 6, 2013, breaking news appeared in the newspaper “The Guardian” in the report; it revealed that the US National Surveillance Agency (NSA) was collecting phone records under a top-secret court order. The next day, 'The Guardian' and 'Washington Post' reported that the NSA had evaluated the information and data contained in the system of Internet giants such as Facebook and Google as part of a surveillance program. Edward Snowden, on June 9, 2013, was named as the one who leaked the information to the newspaper in his first interview from Hong Kong. Background and facts mentioned above is an excerpt from Edward Snowden's disclosure of a mass surveillance program carried out by the NSA. So who is Edward Snowden? He is a 29-year-old former technical assistant at the Central of Intelligence Agency (CIA) and ...... middle of paper ......the, greater good and happiness will result. Daniel Ellsberg is the individual responsible for the Pentagon Papers leak. Critics have pointed to a contrast between Daniel Ellsberg's action and that of Edward Snowden: the former stayed in the country and the latter flew to Hong Kong and Moscow. From the first point of view itself, what Edward Snowden did is the right thing to do because it is for a greater good which is to bring a democratic movement rather than if he stays in the United States , he will spend his life in prison and that is not something worth serving, given the current state of the law; It is clear that Edward Snowden, before his revelation, thought through all the consequences and decided that it was the right thing to do. I too believe that his action is the right thing to do and will produce a greater good..
