  • Essay / Compare and Contrast Mesopotamia and Egyptian Civilization

Egypt was a center of trade. “Egyptians and their trading partners sailed along the Nile to trade their goods, but sometimes also traveled to and from the eastern or western deserts” (Egypt-Trade). By trading with other nations, they allowed themselves to establish diplomatic relations with them. Trade also boosted the Egyptian economy, as "trade affected all social classes in Egypt because a large number of different types of resources were traded" (Egypt-Trade). The Egyptian business model is still widely used by all nations of the world, even today. It's simple economics: everyone will benefit from the import and export of goods, something the ancient Egyptians understood. This is still widely used today, for example a visit to one of the US ports will show an influx of foreign trade. Overall, Mesopotamia and Egypt made some of the most important contributions to the modern world. These two ancient civilizations made different, but somewhat similar, contributions to the future of the world. Both are extremely important, but I believe that Mesopotamia has made the most tangible contributions to the future of the world that we have been able to build upon, while Egypt has provided us with more philosophical contributions. This is why I believe that it is Egypt that has made the most important contribution to the future of the country.
