  • Essay / Analysis of cartoons depicting the Egyptian...

To live, you have to do some work. Work is very necessary to enable man to satisfy his desires. In Egypt, we are faced with the problem of unemployment. There are a large number of unemployed young people. Unemployment occurs when people are out of work and actively looking for work. The majority of unemployed youth were in the age group of 20 to 24, of whom 39.3% were unemployed. There are many reasons that make a young person unemployed: our poor education system, rapid population growth, poverty and lack of economic investment. Unemployment will affect the person in many negative ways, such as loss of human resources, illegal immigration, psychological problems and may lead them to illegal activities. Of course, the media plays a very important role in solving this problem in many ways. Cartoons are one such medium that depicts the issue in a fun way. The cartoons are compared to the problem of unemployment. In the cartoon "A", it is a graduation and once the students graduate and get their certificates, they walk through the door of "Unemployment". In drawing "B" there is a man who is going to solve a problem with another man called "Unemployment". » but he did not know that this man was enormous; so he can't do anything to him. Both cartoons clearly show us how difficult and threatening the problem of unemployment is, but cartoon "B" is better because it uses stronger techniques like symbolism, exaggeration, labeling and irony . The symbolism is found in both cartoons. Symbolism is the use of simple objects to represent larger concepts or ideas. In drawing “A”, the door through which graduates enter represents unemployment. And it seems that there is nothing outside this door with...... middle of paper ......ace and body; therefore, this exaggeration shows us the big difference and that man cannot stand in the face of this enormous problem. The facial expressions of sadness on the huge man's face are also exaggerated. The comparison is between the problem and the solution. The persuasion techniques used in both drawings reflect the fact that we are faced with a real problem that is not easy to solve. But Cartoon “B” has better techniques and sends us the message clearly. If the unemployment problem is not resolved, the economy will slow down. And it will make a very big difference in our country. The solutions are not simple, but we have a common interest, and together we can make a start like the International Youth Foundation, it offers young people the opportunity to work and have a better future and this foundation also exists in many countries not Egypt only.
