    Essay “Heeding the Call” It’s no secret that Martin Luther King Jr. did great things. We learned in school that he was a leader in the desegregation movement in the South. He served as a role model for people around the world. But even though Martin truly changed the world for the better, it didn't come without challenges. We've gathered some new information about Dr. King in the essay "Heeding the Call" by Diana Childress. From his childhood until his final days, Martin faced massive opposition. Yet all of these challenges gave Martin the wisdom and idealism that he used throughout his life. One of the most interesting things about this article was the examination of Martin's early childhood memories. It is obvious to us that he was always able to see that African Americans, like himself, were treated differently from their fellow white citizens.
