The connection to medieval bravery is still found in literature today. In medieval society, knights were expected to behave in a certain way. One had to be loyal to one's lord and had to be brave enough to fight for one's people and one's castle. The book Tom Clancy's Endwar is a fictional story about World War III in 2020 (Tom Clancy's). In the story, Saudi Arabia and Iran destroy each other in a nuclear war that gives Russia control of most of the oil trade. Europe becomes a single country called the European Federation and the United Nations is dissolved. The United States and the European Federation end up opposing each other (Michaels). The Green Brigade attacks the Freedom Star space station and kills every U.S. Marine on board. It's the Russians' fault (Tom Clancy's). The Green Brigade is a powerful eco-terrorist group led by someone named Green Vox (Michaels). It is the start of a war between Russia and the United States. The United States realizes that Operation 2659 is underway. It was about the invasion of Canada by Spetsnaz, or Russian (Michaels) troops. It is believed that Russia was invading Canada because Canada was the world's second largest oil producer and Russia did not want competition. In the story, Russia invades Canada with Ka-29 helicopters and eliminates some American F35s. However, American F35s shoot down more than two and a half dozen Russian Ka-29s. The United States also destroys a staging base with AN-130 helicopters and superplanes. Russian SU-39 fighter jets then shoot down all the American F35s (Tom Clancy's). At that time, all US special operations forces formed a combined task force called...... middle of paper..... .between medieval ethics and modern ethics.
