    You ever noticed that one of your friends was sad, it seemed a little more than that, it's depression. Depression isn't just about being sad from time to time, it's a serious illness. This illness causes many people to hide from others and feel worthless. Depression is an illness that has been around for as long as anyone can remember. This disease is located in the brain, it is a chemical imbalance that makes a person too sad. At the same time, they sometimes even want to end their lives. Even though depression is this serious, society takes it and presents it as a way to get attention. The result is that not enough is being done for people suffering from depression. Depression is a real illness and we need to ensure that every day a new person is diagnosed with depression, but we still aren't doing enough. For example: “It is estimated that up to 20% of adolescents experience at least one episode of depression during their adolescence. 10 to 15 percent of adolescents may have some symptoms of depression but do not qualify for a diagnosis of clinical depression, and up to five percent of adolescents are depressed. The average duration of an episode of depression is around eight months; however, these episodes are likely to recur after a few years. (Depression in schools). This relates to this statement because it shows how many people actually suffer from depression with numerical facts. This provides further evidence of how many people actually suffer from depression. Depression is one of the problems. This was written to explain that even though some schools provide services for depressed teens, there still isn't enough depression. Schools are still too focused on wanting students to succeed and making the school better. This causes students to stress out more, which doesn't help a depressed teen. There is still much to be done for these people
