    Giuseppe Garibaldi never lacked admirers. In my eyes he is one of the best world leaders because he was a great man and he unified many countries like Italy. For a time he was the most famous person in the world, as an Italian revolutionary, Garibaldi became a global celebrity even before he managed to unify Italy. He was an Italian general and politician who played an important role in the creation of Italy as we know it today. He helped free Italy from foreign domination. Garibaldi is best known for his military leadership in the unification of Italy (Giuseppe Garibaldi). Garibaldi was born on July 4, 1807 in Nice, France. He is the son of Domenico Garibaldi, fisherman and coastal trader. His full name was Joseph Marie (Giuseppe Garibaldi). He was a sailor for almost 10 years in the Mediterranean and the Black Sea. In 1832, he obtained a merchant captain's certificate. In 1833, he served in the navy of the Kingdom of Piedmont-Sardinia, he was influenced by Giuseppe Mazzini, the great leader of Italian nationalism. Garibaldi comes into contact with Mazzini's patriotic society, Young Italy. He visited the headquarters of this organization, in Marseille. Garibaldi, in 1834, participated in a mutiny intended to provoke a republican revolution in Piedmont, but it failed. He fled to France and, while away, was sentenced to death by a Genoese court. He managed to escape to South America, where he lived from 1836 to 1848. (Garibaldi 9). There, he participated in the Brazilian struggles. Garibaldi, as a soldier and naval captain, contributed to the fight for the secession of the Rio Grande State, in its struggle to free itself from the Brazilian empire. He sets out to conquer Sicily and Naples. He had no government support. Although Cavour and Victor Emmanuel did not dare to stop him, they were ready to help him if he won. Garibaldi accepted this unwritten arrangement, convinced that it could force Cavour to support a move towards the unification of Italy. He won the Battle of Sicily and called himself “Dictator of the Two Sicilies”. Garibaldi fought the greatest battle of his life when he entered Naples with 30,000 men and won. after his victory, he organized a vote which allowed him to give King Victor Emmanuel the lands of southern Italy. Victor Emmanuel was the new king of unified Italy. At this time, Garibaldi was even more popular than the king and was considered a national hero until his death in June. 2, 1882.
