  • Essay / Cause and Effect in Grimm's Rapunzel Fairy Tales

In the story Rapunzel, from Grimm's Fairy Tales, many events lead to a tragic, but happy, ending. The woman, who was going to have a baby, wanted to eat some of the enchantress's herbs. Every day her desire grew stronger until she couldn't take it anymore and sent her husband to steal some. The enchantress noticed the husband and became very angry. She decided to be nice and make a deal with her husband. The enchantress would spare his life if the child his wife had given birth to was given to her. When the little girl, Rapunzel, was born, she was entrusted to the enchantress. At the age of twelve, she was locked in a tower. There were no stairs leading up to the castle, so no one could enter through our gate. The enchantress climbed through Rapunzel's hair to enter. The king's son heard Rapunzel singing and went to see her. Rapunzel and the king's son fell in love and decided to get married. Rapunzel told him to bring a piece of cloth every night so he could make a ladder to climb down from. The enchantress discovered Rapunzel's plan, so she cut off all of her hair and threw Rapunzel into the desert. When the king's son arrived, the enchantress let Rapunzel's hair down. The king's son was so frightened by the enchantress that he jumped out of the tower, piercing his eyes on the thorns. He wandered through the forest until he came across Rapunzel and her twins. Rapunzel's tears brightened the king's son's eyes and they lived happily ever after in the kingdom. In the end, they lived happily ever after because the woman craved the herbs, the king's son found Rapunzel, and the enchantress discovered the king's son. The first event that set off the chain of reactions in Tangled, through Grimm's fairy tales, was the woman's desire. The woman was craving herbs...... middle of paper ......ppy. Not only is the story graphic, but it is also a lesson. It teaches readers that every action has a consequence. Without this event, Rapunzel might never have escaped the tower, so the story might have been different. In the story Tangled, from Grimms' Fairy Tales, the story ended with Rapunzel and the king's son returning to the kingdom's vault. The woman craving herbs, meeting Rapunzel and the king's sons, and the enchantress meeting the king's son led to this specific ending. The woman's desires led Rapunzel to stay in the tower. Meeting Rapunzel and the king's son caused Rapunzel to want to escape and live her life. The meeting with the enchantress of the king's son blinded him and broke his heart. Later, he was reunited with Rapunzel and his eyesight was restored. He led Rapunzel to the kingdom and together they lived for a long time in great peace...
