The Native Americans of the North faced many difficulties with the arrival of Europeans, the Spanish and the French. Native Americans thrived on American soil for thousands of years and enjoyed great prosperity. Living among themselves in a local economy and communities. Native Americans created a civilization in harmony with the land and spiritual world around them. They were able to survive thanks to the living plants and animals that lived among them in this overabundant country blessed with all its rich resources. Many different tribes thrived in these lands by adapting well to the elements around them. They were able to use the only living animal that coexisted with their people and ensured that good prey was worth the effort and danger it incurred. Native Americans were able to use every part of the killed animal, from skin to hooves, in an effort to survive and to counterbalance the spiritual world that was swallowing up their heritage. The natives would give back to the world that gave to them. Facing an unpromising future, Native Americans were unprepared for the storm that would hit their shores. Europeans would soon arrive and wipe out the natives in more ways than one (Jones-Saumty). In 1492, Christopher Columbus was said to have been the first to arrive on American soil from the East. Columbus would bring many new and different goods unseen to the natives of this world. Europeans and the Spanish brought many goods for their own survival in this new territory, such as plants and even animals.
