  • Essay / Ending Foreclosures: An Economic Resolution - 1128

    There is a solution to the foreclosure crisis. I am not suggesting that this is my own response, but that it is born of Love. Love for all my family, friends and the country as a whole is the reason for this proposal. Their fate, and that of our way of life in America, depends on what we do at this moment in history. An additional motivating factor is the admiration and love for the foundations on which this country was founded. Needless to say, we also cannot turn our backs on all those who shed their blood and even gave their lives for the principles of our America. Allowing this jewel of freedom and prosperity to falter and deteriorate would be the most monumental political plunder on record. We cannot afford to waste this opportunity. First of all, we should ask ourselves why are we giving money to the same greedy individuals who are responsible for the predicament we find ourselves in? If citizens have to repay this money, why can't they directly benefit from this economic package? At this point, the president fully expects the people to repay the money borrowed through taxes. Thanks to money changers, it appears that citizens of the United States will be allowed to borrow their own money at interest rates that will no doubt be ridiculous. It is the people's money, because we are the ones who have to repay the loans. Citizens must therefore be able to benefit from it. For this proposal to move forward and succeed, there is one thing that is of the utmost importance. Every citizen must recognize and accept that we are all on board the same sinking ship. Our financial destinies are inevitably linked.
