  • Essay / Oklahoma's Unconstitutional Laws - 1143

In the United States of America, the Constitution is the highest law of the land. This constitution is final and absolute, neither state nor federal law can contradict it. Oklahoma and many other Bible Belt states, however, have a history of passing unconstitutional laws only to have them struck down in court. This is a problem because it clogs up the courts and costs taxpayers money, for no reason other than simple incompetence. Any law that directly discriminates against any religion is unconstitutional because the sole purpose of the First Amendment is to protect your religious freedoms. This particular law directly violates the Establishment Clause of the First Amendment (Scott). Any state government that would directly and knowingly go against the very foundations of our Constitution is either dangerously out of touch with reality or incompetent on a grand scale. Additionally, Oklahoma has a... long-standing... middle of paper. .....logic to govern their decisions, the only option will be to dismiss and appoint new electives.Works CitedHoberock, Barbara. “Supreme Court upholds ruling declaring another Oklahoma abortion law unconstitutional.” Tulsa World (OK) November 12, 2013: Newspaper Source Plus.
