Essay / Biography of Jacques d'Amboise - 643
“I was a dancer” is a rich, expansive and lively memoir of the life of Jacques d'Amboise. It all started when he was 8 years old at the American Ballet School. At age twelve, he was asked to become a dancer and perform with the Ballet Society. Three years later, he joined the New York Ballet and made his European debut at London's Covent Garden. Before all this, he writes about his childhood, he was born Joseph Ahearn in 1934 in Dedham, Massachusetts. Her mother considered the boss, she moved her family to Washington Heights in New York, putting her son and daughter into ballet classes, she was able to pay for these classes by making hats and selling them on the street corner , she also changed their last names to her middle name, she thought it sounded better for the ballet life she led her children. His life was hard for a while; he was in a Catholic school, where he was taught by nuns, fought against neighborhood gangs, and took ten ballet classes a week at the Ballet School of America. Balanchine was an unassuming, very energetic little guy who taught ballet at D'Amboise. He loves Balanchine but he admits he loved Lincoln Kirsten even more because he was a total wreck and a dysfunctional genius of crazy energy and passion. Lincoln always said "he feared he was wrong" and shouted "good taste is my taste, buster, good taste is my taste." He described how vulnerable he was, saying “He was a wounded elephant, with all the power of an elephant, full of doubts and fear. Her idea to study dance started with her mother because she always dreamed of her children following her dancing steps. Her mother was said to have been an extraordinary dancer, theater actress, recited poetry, sang and spoke French. After years of dancing... middle of paper ...... dancing really inspired me to love dancing more than what I do now. Understanding and being able to somehow relate to him really opened my eyes and not only what he does, teaching children the magic of dance and helping them in life is what I want to do. It changed the way I saw the world much more towards dance. Seeing that there is a person who wants to make a change and have a big influence on others has really opened my eyes to pursue my dreams. I already knew people wanted to make a change, but there's a big difference between knowing and seeing someone make that change. The way I see the world also through one's life is that no matter how many situations come up, no matter how hard things are and can happen to you, you will never give it to yourself, you keep trying, keep your head up and keep fighting because God will never give it to you. a battle you can't handle.
