Essay / Do today's pop stars deserve our respect? - 617
Out of 7.5 million viewers, only 260 people thought Lady Gaga's performance on X Factor, when she proudly walked around in skin-colored underwear, was worth complaining about. In a post Miley at the VMAs world, you have to do better than a T-shirt, bra, and granny pants to get a reaction. She even took off all her clothes after a performance at the GAY Saturday Convention, and still no one cared. This shows how obviously desensitized we are to the idea of seeing pop stars stripping and simulating sex on stage. Yes, today's stars should be treated with respect because everyone deserves respect. But that doesn't mean we have to tolerate inappropriate behavior on stage. “Everyone should be respected as an individual, but no one should be idolized.” (Einstein)Everyone should be treated with respect. “It is an esteem for a person's feeling of worth or excellence...or something considered as a manifestation of a personal quality or ability. » (Beaudoin) Respect has great importance in our daily life. However, today's stars are not exactly what one might call a great model. It seems like none of them have any morals anymore or even an idea of what you should and shouldn't do. When it comes to what our kids watch, our “so what?” our attitude toward naked pop stars is out of proportion to our fear of porn. We should all respect and be kind to everyone around us, including celebrities, but that doesn't mean we should have to put up with the inappropriate behavior we encounter everywhere we look. You can refuse to spend money on Miley or Gaga (and do yourself and your kids a favor when it comes to musical taste). But more importantly, teach your children that they can do better than taking their own clothes... middle of paper... we just have to be ourselves and not care what anyone thinks others, because as long as you are happy to be yourself, everyone will respect you. Respect is essential in our everyday lives and we should all do better to appreciate the people around us.Works CitedBeaudoin, Marie-Nathalie. “Respect – Where to start? » NP September 2011. Web.
