As I read Anna's article, I begin to understand some of the main causes of rapes occurring in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Big events like wars were happening, forcing many men to leave their families at home, without the protection of a man, this created an easy way to get a wife and start with rape. This article brings the idea back to the men of the family. Many boys around the age of 13 are being taken by the government to help in the ongoing war (Warfare). Not only young boys, but also older men who work for their families, are obliged to go and help the country in which they live. Many do not realize the rights that many people in this country may have, with few resources, not enough information is distributed to the lower classes. As in the first article, men and women should have the same freedom and should not be stripped of their rights, for example the right not to want to have sex. “Any deliberate violence against civilians during armed conflict, including rape and sexual violence. sexual abuse is considered a violation of international humanitarian law.”
