Essay / New Year Celebration at Wagha Border - 858
Since my childhood, I have celebrated New Year at home sitting in front of the television watching New Year programs, or wishing New Year to my friends late in at night by SMS. But this time I celebrated my new year differently, in a very special way that I had never thought of or planned. I will never forget the night of December 31, 2009 and the first day of the New Year i.e. January 1, 2010. Last year we had NOSPLAN (National Organization of Planning Students) at SPA Delhi in the month of January 2009. This time GNDU Amritsar had hosted NOSPLAN for two days on December 29, 2009 and January 1, 2010. On the night of December 26, we boarded the train at 2 am from Vijayawada railway station to Delhi after seeing the movie 3 Idiots in a cinema which made our visit more enjoyable. We arrived on 28th December and on the same day we had taken the bus to Amritsar from Lal Quila and reached there the next morning i.e. 29th December. We stayed only at GNDU University. On the 30th evening, we organized a group dance competition between the colleges. Obviously I danced but this time with a more proper rehearsal, not like the last time when we practiced the dance a few hours before the competition and we came second, which was completely unexpected. This time we knew we would be in the top 3 and we arrived, that is to say, 2nd finalist again. That evening and the next morning as well, I was completely engrossed in the dance performance. My mind wasn't picking up and I couldn't help it, as often happens to me. Also last year, when I danced with my friends, I was in the same situation and deep in thought. Anyway, the next day i.e. on the evening of December 31st, we had a DJ party at a banquet hall in Amritsar. All the colleges present there for NOSPLAN celebrated...... middle of paper ......ises of the temple. We didn't enter the temple at that time as it was already around 10pm. We saw people taking the 'Granth' in 'Palki' from the temple to a building. Then we entered the temple when there were fewer people. People were cleaning the temple when we entered. As the temple is in the middle of water, the view was magnificent from the temple. There was lots of lighting. The image of the illuminated temple was reflected on the water and the image of the water was also reflected on the wall of the temple. Around 11 a.m. we left the temple. I bought “Kadha” for my family and myself. Then we head to our rooms. We went to bed as soon as we got to the room because we were very tired and my throat needed rest. I have never felt so privileged to see such places. It was the most memorable New Year for me. I captured all those unforgettable moments behind closed doors.
