Michael LaurenceEnglish 11BRough Draft March 219, 2014Nuclear Energy is a Better Alternative EnergyNuclear energy is a growing source of energy in most countries around the world, offering many benefits . People doubt the importance of nuclear energy because of an accident. Because of this accident, the world saw only the flaws of nuclear power and not the many benefits it has to offer. Nuclear power would benefit globally if people let go of the past and look to the future. Nuclear energy is a better alternative energy because of its economic and environmental benefits. Nuclear power now represents a significant percentage of global energy. As of January 18, 2013, 437 nuclear power plants with a net installed electrical capacity of approximately 372 GW were in operation in 31 countries and 68 plants with an installed capacity of 65 GW were under construction in 15 countries. At the end of 2011, total electricity production since 1951 amounted to 69.76 trillion kWh. The cumulative operating experience stood at 15,15,080 years as of the end of 2012. (European Nuclear Society) The change that nuclear energy has brought to the world has led to benefits in today's use of nuclear energy. 'energy. Many developing countries are also interested in nuclear energy because of all the benefits that nuclear energy can offer. Currently, between sixteen and thirty nuclear power plants are being built in developing countries like China and India. Both countries are turning to nuclear power for many reasons, including its reliability and the amount of energy it produces. This is very advantageous because the construction of one of these nuclear power plants takes up little space and the amount of energy they produce is substantial. These two countries look at middle of paper... and water starts to boil and steam is produced. When steam is produced it rises towards the reactor opening, as it rises the steam passes through turbines which spin to create power. The turbines begin to move, which produces energy. During this process, a large amount of steam is produced, which is why so much energy is created. Nuclear power has the ability to produce a lot of energy in a small space. “Approximately 1.6 billion people live without access to electricity and 2.4 billion rely on traditional biomass because they do not have access to modern fuels. » (General Dr. Mohamed ElBaradei) With nuclear energy installed in these countries that are without electricity, we can bring it to where electricity will be accessible to everyone. By making power accessible to all, we can accomplish so much more and open up more possibilities in our world today...
