    To begin with, what is a disaster? Well, a disaster is a natural or man-made hazard resulting in an event of considerable magnitude causing significant physical damage or destruction, loss of life or drastic change in the environment. So, a technical disaster is a disaster caused by an error made by an engineer during the production of the product or service. Making mistakes is part of being human. Unfortunately for engineers, because of the importance of their job in creating products to serve humanity, their mistakes usually lead to disaster. On April 26, 1986, a technical disaster occurred in Pipriat, Ukraine, then part of the Soviet Union. Disaster struck the Chernobyl nuclear reactor, which exploded and released at least five percent of the radioactive core into the atmosphere. This was the result of a faulty reactor design that was operated by insufficiently trained personnel. So what happened that day to cause this disaster?
