    When I started playing guitar when I was younger, I was very ambitious and wanted to learn all my favorite songs and master everything you needed to know about this. I knew that if I stayed focused and practiced every day, I would achieve my goals. The hands and fingers are a very important part of playing any instrument and I would soon learn that without them it would be difficult, if not impossible, to play. One day I was playing basketball with my friends and I went for the ball and stuck my thumb in the ground. Without thinking twice, I continued playing thinking it was nothing more than a minor sprain. I continued to play. Later, I would find out: the choice I made was wrong. After feeling some discomfort in my left thumb and having difficulty bending it forward, I was taken to the hospital where I had an x-ray showing that my thumb was broken. At first I didn't realize the magnitude of what had happened until I got home later that day, picked up my guitar and realized it was physically impossible to play with a cast....
