Day after day, individuals face challenges that lead to extremes. People face obstacles while accomplishing whatever they are required to do. Every day, ordinary people are heroes of sorts. It is normal for people to encounter obstacles and barriers in carrying out their duties. But among these people, those who don't give up because of their frustration are the real heroes. What people today refer to when they think of a hero is someone strong and courageous who protects those who are weak. It is true that a hero must be valiant and daring, for a medieval hero to stand out, he must also overcome his fears in order to succeed. By acting courageously, not giving up and realizing that a hero will be able to control his fears and overcome them, bringing success. Beowulf is a medieval hero who acts courageously to achieve victory. When Grendel attacks the Danes each night, Beowulf comes out of his shelter to help the majority. He overcomes his fears even though the possibilities of consequences he could suffer are high. “The hero comes to Heorot” (Beowulf lines 188-189), the similarity in the pronunciation of “hero” and “Heorot” seems as if the mead hall was designed for Beowulf.
