Essay / Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare - 655
In the entirety of Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare alludes to the lovers' mortal fate evoked by the chorus in the prologue. Romeo and Juliet also constantly talk about their feelings of unease and how they can sense that something bad is going to happen, which supports the aforementioned conclusion. This foreshadowing not only tells us about this planned tragedy, but there must be pawns of fate who must bring Romeo and Juliet together, while leading them to their deaths. In Romeo and Juliet, their mortal destiny was written by the universe and the characters who passed through it, such as Capulet, Montague, Nurse, Friar Lawrence, Friar John, and Mercutio. The two main forces that bring Romeo and Juliet together while separating them. are the Capulets and the Montagues. As is the case with any teenage romance, parents who don't approve of their child's love will do everything they can to keep them apart (in Juliette's case, it's trying to make her marry someone else). But while these efforts are noble on the part of their parents, teenagers have a natural tendency to go against what their parents say, especially when it comes to something that will make them happy or their " true love.” In the case of Romeo and Juliet, whether it was true love or simply lust, the Capulets and the Montagues were made to act as a barrier between them, causing children to be sad and in love. Acting as a barrier between them also forces Romeo and Juliet to see each other in secret, and Romeo's walk of shame after their "honeymoon" night is what gets Romeo into the whole ordeal with Tybalt later in the play . While Capulet and Montague are the forces of fate separating them, characters like Brother Lawrence and the Nur...... middle of paper ...... John. Even though Brother John is one of the more minor roles in the play, he is undoubtedly the cause of R&J's death. If his moral standards had not forced him to stop and help the family in need, Brother John would have passed on the message to Romeo, and he and Juliet could have lived happily ever after. Unfortunately, fate did not have this planned for them, and they employed Brother John to be their bringer of death, in a way, making the story of Romeo and Juliet a tragedy. In no way were Romeo and Juliet destined to live a happy life together, where their families no longer fought and Verona was finally at peace. Instead, it was written in the stars that their fate would be tragic and that the actions of those around them who tried to separate them and those who tried to keep them together would ultimately lead to their untimely demise..
