  • Essay / The Sunshine State: California - 1279

The Sunshine State Choosing a vacation destination can be difficult. When choosing a destination, there are many things to consider. Two of the most important considerations are climate and available activities. California is one of many people's favorite destinations. California is also known as the Sunshine State. This beautiful state has plenty to offer families, couples, and singles. The top places visited in Southern California include plenty of entertainment and popular tourist spots. Some great places are Disneyland, San Diego Zoo, Sea World, Hollywood Boulevard and Catalina Island. Here are some of the top attractions in Southern California. Ultimately, where you choose to visit will be a personal choice. Southern California is considered one of the best year-round destinations in the United States. There is a brief rainy season, which falls in the months of December, January and February. The average rainfall in Southern California is twelve inches and 90% of the rain will occur during these three months. The average temperature range is between sixty-eight and eighty-three. Temperatures can vary by up to twenty degrees depending on the region of Southern California. Coastal areas close to the ocean are cooler while inland areas are warmer due to the Santa Ana winds. Fog can occur in June due to arid winds sucking moisture from the ocean. This is sometimes called the “June gloom.” The fog usually dissipates with the sun around midday each day. June fog tends to make mornings cooler and afternoons and evenings warmer. Disneyland is known for being the happiest place on earth. Walt Disney is the founder of this amusement park. Walt had ...... middle of paper ...... g tour or $13.00 to walk the gardens. At the end of the gardens is a memorial to Mr. Wrigley. He died in 1932 and is buried in the tower inside the garden. The garden is only a few hundred meters from his residence. In the middle of the island is a town called Avalon which has shops and restaurants. Cars are not allowed on the island and the only mode of transportation is a golf cart, which can be rented. The island's beauty and slow pace make it a great place to relax and enjoy. I believe Southern California is a great place to visit because of the great weather and the beautiful and fun attractions to visit. This would be a great place for a vacation. I may be a little biased since on May 17, 1995, I was born in Southern California and lived there for the first 10 years of my life. I have many fond memories of the Sunshine State.
