Essay / is security more important than privacy moises cohen
"Those who can give up essential freedom to gain a little temporary security deserve neither freedom nor security." (Benjamin Franklin)Nowadays we live in a world where technology has become one of the most important parts of our lives. We always hear about social networks, search engines, clouds, etc. These tools are very useful and we use them to make our daily lives easier. But sometimes we hear that this tool we use is used by the government as a way to extract information from the population; their justification is that they penetrate people's private lives to keep countries safe. The main reason they do this is to avoid terrorism, and the country that has devoted its resources to corrupting people's privacy is the United States. There are many reasons why this is accurate and why it helps prevent terrorism. It is obvious that the United States wants to know everything and it is because they are the most powerful country in the world and as many say; “knowledge is power” and after what happened on 9/11, they don’t want that to happen again. My opinion is that what they are doing is wrong, despite all the security reasons; every person has the right to have at least some privacy. The government has no right to see what we do on the Internet, or to have cameras in bedrooms and bathrooms, or to see us naked! They have no right to judge us before we do something. The law says you are innocent unless proven otherwise, so they need to stop thinking that everyone is a bad person or that everyone wants to harm the country or the people. They should have security, of course, but now they go beyond the law and start scaring the population because...... middle of paper ... still guilty even if you never have anything done harm. We have to be careful because you never know who is watching or hearing our every move. Works Cited • Mears, Bill. “El Debate Sobre Privacidad Y Seguridad Nacional Resurge En EU.” CNN.
