Essay / The Jewish People and the Holocaust - 767
There was a time, not so long ago, when Jews were mistreated and considered inferior. This era was called the Holocaust. It was started by a man named Adolf Hiitler. He was a young boy who grew up in Austria with his mother and father. He grew old and both his parents died. Hitler fought in the German army during World War I. He was injured twice. The first time he was injured, the recovery was easy and he fought again. Adolf Hitler was injured again, but this time his eye was badly injured. It took Hitler longer to recover and he was almost blind. He soon learned that Germany had surrendered. Hitler was outraged and promised that he would make Germany a powerful country. This is what started the Holocaust. At first, Hitler was thrown into prison and wrote the book Mein Kampf, which means my struggle. Once he got out of prison, he tried again and people loved him. Finally, in 1933, he became chancellor. This is what really started the Holocaust. The Holocaust occurred around the same time as World War II. It affected everyone, but Adolf Hitler had a special list of people he deemed undesirable. These people included Jews, Gypsies and many others. Hitler knew the precise names of the people on the undesirable list because he looked at the files. But when this place burned down, they looked at the names. Anyone with two letters l side by side in their name was considered Jewish. many people hid in hopes of not being found by Hitler or his allies. if they were, they were sent to transit, death or concentration camps. Once in the camps, most never left. Either they were put in gas chambers, or they died of disease, or they died of starvation. Even though only the undesirables were put... middle of paper ...... it happened to Peter. Anne and Margot are brought back to Germany to another extermination camp. Later, Ms. VanDaan is there with them. But unfortunately, Mrs. Frank had died in her second camp. Margot, Anne and Mrs. VanDaan died in the third camp just months before their camp was liberated. Frank was the only one in the secret annex who returned. Miep gave him Anne's diary which had been confiscated from her before her departure. He created an Anne Frank Foundation where he took words from Anne's diary and taught young people to accept people as they are. This is why we study the Holocaust, to teach us that we must accept one another. We are who we want to be. Everyone needs to see something from someone else's point of view. We need to remember and learn about the Holocaust to avoid making mistakes. One bad thing can hurt everyone, not just you.
