  • Essay / The process of creating and implementing a policy

The process of creating and implementing a policy In my point of view, policy is illustrated as decision-making, planning and/or an action taken to achieve some specific goal within our company. According to Longest B. (2010), his definition stated in his textbook states that policy is defined as “authoritative decisions made in the legislative, executive, or judicial branches of government and intended to direct or influence actions, behaviors, or the decisions of others. When developing a policy, certain steps must be taken concretely to implement the policy. The crucial steps in policy implementation are: problem recognition, agenda setting, policy formulation and finally policy implementation (NA, 2015). When developing a policy, people must recognize a problem; the concern may be a natural disaster, unsafe workplace or cost of medical insurance; all of this functions as a source of distress for people. To take control of the problem, society must recognize that government can and should address the problem and address public concerns (NA, 2015). The policy making process begins with the policy formulation phase, which consists of the first crucial step of policy making, namely agenda setting; this process describes the stages through which particular problems, possible solutions, and political circumstances emerge (Longest, 2010). The issues previously discussed are society's concerns about natural disasters, unsafe workplaces, and the cost of medical insurance, to name a few. When a society poses a problem, there should be a possible solution or alternative solutions to move the processes towards political circumstances. In the process of finalizing a problem and solution, it will not be enough to end...... middle of paper ...... a changing situation. This process occurs continually over the life of the policy, and individuals, organizations, or interest groups who benefit from a particular policy may seek to adjust the increase or maintain benefits. On the other hand, people negatively affected by a policy may seek to reduce its negative consequences (Longest, 2010). Conclusion Developing a policy is a long process that goes through many stages before becoming a bill. The policy development process is introduced early in the policy formulation phase. As the issue moves through legislation, it enters the policy implementation phase, which then becomes law or is vetoed. Many policies do not become a bill, but some of them achieve the goal of guiding society with immense decision-making and balanced results..
