Essay / Reflection on atheism - 1276
The literal term “atheism” in Greek means “without gods”. For my part, having attended a Christian high school and university, I was surrounded by Christians, so exploring this new culture, I knew, would be a challenge and a difference in my life. To start, I studied some facts about atheism because I wanted to be able to learn things from Braydon's perspective. A misconception of atheists is that they became atheists because they are angry with God. This is a myth, because atheists are atheists because they see no evidence for the existence of a God. Although it may seem like they do not know the purpose of life, atheists will often say that they are still searching for the purpose of life in the earthly world. Atheism is now on the rise in the United States, having seen an increase of almost 1% in five years. With all these facts and figures, it seems that atheists are just a growing group of closed-minded people. If you think this statement is true, you might as well stop reading here, because it wasn't that long ago I was in your shoes, but my beliefs on this subject have changed.
