Abortion is the termination of a pregnancy after, accompanied by, resulting in or closely followed by the death of the embryo or fetus (“abortion”). Many people may believe that abortion is the right way to do things, but some may believe that it kills a human being. Statistics show that "234 abortions per 1,000 live births (according to the Centers for Disease Control), 1.2 million abortions per year, 3,288 abortions per day, 1,379 abortions per hour, and 4 abortions every minute and 1 abortion every 26 seconds. » (Abortion Facts) In this world, people have many views on abortion. “14,000 abortions are performed because of rape/incest. This represents only about 1% of all abortions” (Agrestic). The fact is that most abortions are performed because the mother does not want children at that time. With this debate, abortion should not be a huge problem in the United States. Abortion should only be permitted if the woman is raped and/or has health problems. There are many ways to have an abortion and it may or may not cause serious problems. When the woman is in her first trimester, the abortion is considered a minor surgical procedure. The older the woman, the higher the risk she runs when she decides to abort (Bair). There are several ways to have an abortion, one of them being: Methotrexate and Misoprostol. This is a medical technique that can only be used during the first seven weeks of pregnancy. This medication procedure is not as commonly used in the United States, with the next method being Mifepristone and Misoprostol or the abortion pill. This is a medical procedure that can only be used until the first seven to nine weeks of pregnancy. These are just some of the methods to have an abortion.
