Automobile Industry2.1 BackgroundMahindra & Mahindra was established in 1945 as a steel trading company. It saw a business opportunity in the manufacturing and sales of MUVs. His first vehicle was assembling Willy's jeep in India. It was quickly able to establish itself as a jeep manufacturer in India. It then launched into the manufacturing of light vehicles (LCV) and agricultural tractors. UV Scorpio, a product of Mahindra & Mahindra, is one of the best-selling SUVs in India. In 1977, International Tractor Company of India merged with M&M to become its tractor division and has managed to be the leader in the Indian tractor market to date. IN 2005. M&M entered into a joint venture with Navistar Inc USA to build a range of locally developed commercial vehicles for the Indian terrain. The Brand Trust Report ranked M&M as the 10th most trusted brand in India. It is a US$16.7 billion company that employs more than 180,000 people worldwide. It recognizes the importance of just-in-time supply chain management for greater operational efficiency and reduced inventory cost.
