IntroductionAccording to Johnson et al. (2006) strategy is “the direction and scope of an organization over the long term, which provides it with an advantage through the configuration of its resources in a changing environment, to meet the needs of markets and the expectations of parties stakeholders”. With ever more dynamic and complex environmental conditions, strategies are constantly evolving and must be adapted to different contexts, situations and contingencies. For this reason, effective change management is fundamental to organizational survival and success and different approaches and means of change management are required for different types of change. This brief synthesis of the literature will first analyze the most important questions about organizational change identified by the literature over the past three decades following Armenakis (1999) and Balogun and Hope Hailey (1999). He will then present the transitional curve (Gingerella, 1993) as a tool that can help to better understand the change management process. Finally, it will examine how the literature views change as a threat or opportunity and what role corporate culture plays in the process. Organizational ChangeArmenakis (1999) identifies content issues as the primary research theme on organizational change issues. Changes may relate to the transformation of the organization through the adoption of new staff behaviors (long-term changes) or periods of transactions (short-term changes).
