Essay / When someone goes through life upside down, they find themselves caught in the cobweb of conflict between themselves and the outside world, and therefore are reluctant to distinguish between true and false decisions in life . These complications often lead to violence and crime. Nevertheless, it is believed that most criminal brains differ from that of a normal person in size, which consumes them in their negative thoughts. The study of the neurology of the criminal mind has suggested that psychopaths are able to show sympathy toward people they are willing to show (Griffiths, 2013). In these two novels, Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and In Cold Blood by Truman Capote, the brains of the criminals were affected due to various factors. In Crime and Punishment, Raskolnikov, the protagonist, although a sympathetic human being, commits a horrible crime. The guilt of committing this crime captivates his brain, which ultimately leads him to confess to the crime; and that is why he is sent to Siberia for eight years in prison. Perry, like Raskolnikov, commits a devastating crime and is confronted with the trauma of his mentality. He is arrested by the FBI and sentenced to death. The cardinal theme of poverty is illustrated in the fact that the main characters, although initially good people, commit a terrible act thinking that stealing might help them overcome their poverty. They symbolically visualize realistic and fanciful means of rescue after committing the crime, go through intense inner and outer conflicts, and finally, they are given a so-called just punishment for their committed crimes. The theme of poverty, whether more severe or moderate, prevails predominately. all over the spectrum of bo...... middle of paper ......basic resource lity. These circumstances give rise to crime, suffering and, ultimately, punishment. World literature is full of these themes, concepts and symbols: these two novels, as part of the organic whole of world literature, represent the same themes, issues and images. Whether realistic or imaginary, the characters think about ways to escape their suffering. Such suffering, confessions and punishments are found throughout both novels. This theme or concept is evident even in today's society and justice system. Actors and agitators either receive no punishment or are punished less severely than their crimes. The common man is most likely sentenced to harsher punishments than his crimes. This fact is truly widespread throughout the world, without exception of nation, race, color, culture or religion...
