Essay / Parallelism between the Matrix and Christianity
Hope is the expectation and desire for an event to occur. For many people, having hope means seeing a cruel reality with a positive feeling. From hope comes faith. Having faith in something unrealistic motivates people to keep moving forward and do their best to make things happen. Most religions today, especially Christianity, base most of their doctrine on the faith of salvation through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and the hope of living for eternity, if we obey the laws of God according to the Bible. Similarly, this hope and system of faith can be seen in The Matrix, when Morpheus propagates his belief that "the one" will end Zion's long-standing war against the machines. Evidence from the history of Christianity, as well as the history and symbolism found in The Matrix demonstrate that there is a parallelism between these two, as well as the manifestation of faith that makes all things possible. Faith in the Matrix and Christianity are conduits into the prophecy of someone special and unique who has the power to bring hope and peace to humanity. These two prophecies have traveled from time to time, transferring this hope from ancient generations to future generations. Furthermore, these prophecies were made by extraordinary people. For example, the coming of Jesus Christ was announced by an angel to Mary. On the other hand, the prophecy of Neo's coming was made by the Oracle, a special program whose goal is to unbalance the matrix and analyze the psychological parts of humans. The way people threatened Neo and Jesus Christ is quite similar. . At his birth, Jesus Christ received the adoration of the three kings. The book of Matthew, in chapter 2, verse 11...... middle of paper...... threatens the entire system. Neo sacrificed his life to kill Smith, and thus free Zion from the machines. With this scene, the Wachowski brothers bring us back to the allusion made in the first film that Neo was "Jesus Christ." All of these events were made possible because Neo knew that Zion believed in him, so he felt like he had to do something. Thanks to Morpheus and Zion's faith in him, he did everything possible to accomplish his goal in life. It is more than obvious that there is a parallelism between Jesus Christ and Neo from The Matrix. Both had the power to change the course of humanity, and because of their role in society, they had great influence over the actions of others to fulfill a prophecy. As Brian Tracy once said, “Whatever we confidently look forward to becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy.” »..”
