  • Essay / No Country for Old Men - 666

The 2007 film No Country for Old Men, directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, is an adaptation of the 2005 novel by Cormac McCarthy. The story is about a guy named Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) who was hunting antelope, then comes across a crime scene with several dead bodies, he then follows a trail of blood and finds drug money which gets then Moss and his wife Carla Jean Moss. (Kelly Macdonald) gets into trouble with people who want to kill them. One of them is Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardam), Chigurh is a cold-hearted killer and kills anyone he comes in contact with. I thought the movie and the book were very close and the movie helped explain the book better and show who was speaking at different times. The character that struck me the most is Anton Chigurh. Javier Bardam did a very good job portraying his character, you could see how crazy and unstable he was and how anyone who came in contact with him would be killed. The film is a very good work. showing how crazy Chigurh was. The first time you see Chigurh in your film, you see that he is crazy. When the deputy receives Chigurh in his office, he is sitting in a corner of the office, his hands handcuffed behind his back. The deputy was sitting at his desk calling Sheriff Lamar to ask about the gun he found at Chigurh's house. The deputy was sitting in a swivel chair talking to the sheriff and then the deputy hung up the phone and bent down to get the jail keys and you can see in the background Chigurh was sliding the handcuffs off his back towards his front, it looked like he practiced it. Chigurh threw his arms over the deputy's head and choked him with the handcuffs. Chigurh shot as hard as he could trying to kill him, the deputy returned fire trying to escape but middle of paper...... the room and starts looking around. He walks to the bathroom and looks around, then walks out of the bathroom and sees the open vent and knows that Chigurh was there and took the money. All this time, Chigurh was in the room and Bell didn't see him. Chigurh is like a ghost and can never get caught, he is unstoppable and this shows how crazy and unstable he is. The movie and the book were very similar and for me the movie helped bring the book to life. While reading the other book, I didn't like the movies because they were different from the book. But this movie was almost the same as the book. I like how the movie shows how Chigurh is very dangerous and that he is a scary criminal who kills everyone he comes in contact with. I liked the book but at first we didn't know who was speaking but the film helped me understand and it brought everything together.
