Assignment of Chariots of Fire1. In the movie Chariots of Fire, Eric Liddell observed the 3rd commandment of not exercising on the Sabbath, because the Sabbath is considered a day of rest. This was evident on the Sunday of the Olympics when he refused to run. The second commandment that Eric Liddell most strongly observed was…2. The Sabbath is intended as a day of rest after six days of work; no work, including sports, should be done on this day. When God created the earth, he set aside the seventh day as a day of rest after all the hard work he had done.3. Eric Liddell did not run his heat at the Olympics the Sunday before the major running event because he put God before his sport and God's rule was that the Sabbath should be a day of rest .4. Harold Abraham is a Jew who valued his sport much more than his Jewish religion. On the other hand, Eric Liddell was the complete opposite and was a strong Christian and valued that more than his athleticism. The sacrifice that Eric made for Christianity was very great for him because he had to miss out on vital warmth. Harold, on the other hand, was much more focused on running than anything else in his life. He prioritized the activity of running, even above those he loved, including his wife and his Jewish religion. Harold would become depressed every time he lost a race and took running to a serious level where he almost didn't even consider religion a part of his life. Even though Harold seemed to work harder throughout the film to become a better runner, Eric seemed to be the winner. every encounter the two had, it could have been due to God's blessing given to Eric for following Christianity more than Harold.4. This film reflects the imagery of "Two Ways We Choose to Live" because Eric Liddell chose to put Christianity above anything else, including running which was one of his passions. This is an example of what God wants us to do..
