Essay / Advantage of Going to College - 1007
This mindset transforms homework from an educational experience into a task that requires minimal effort to complete. This mentality focuses on “how little the student has to learn rather than how much he can learn” (Henderson), which significantly degrades the quality of education by limiting effort. It is reasonable for students to limit their time on assignments to make room for others, but it is the problem of students limiting their efforts as a whole. Viewing the outcomes of an education as more important than the education itself presents it as yet another task to be accomplished when it should be viewed more as a journey. Education allows a person not only to learn, but also to change and develop as a person. Students who are willing to embrace education over the end goal receive a more in-depth education and experience than those who offer the bare minimum.
