The outcome of this historic case helped many women regain control of their lives. The decision had a significant impact on one group in particular, rape victims. This subgroup has been at the forefront of the abortion debate and is a group that even many pro-life advocates sympathize with. According to surveys conducted by the Natural Science Foundation, more than 1,700 Americans were surveyed and it was found that more than 75% of them believed that rape victims should be allowed to have an abortion (Clemment, 2015). Roe vs. Wade helped women who had no choice during pregnancy and were victims to free themselves from any memory of their pain. The Roe v. Wade decision also saved countless lives, contrary to the pro-life view. This has prevented women from going to unlicensed and illegal doctors, which are unsafe methods of getting an abortion. According to many doctors, the ability to go to a legally and medically certified abortion clinic has saved the lives of many women due to the high number of casualties and serious injuries caused by these illegally practicing pseudo-doctors (Joffe, 2013 ).
