It was responsible for violent storms and earthquakes. The following story shows the adventure of Poseidon. The god Poseidon was known for his bad temper. At one point, he unleashed storms and earthquakes out of loneliness and anger. To combat his loneliness, he went in search of a wife and ended up setting his sights on a nymph named Amphitrite. She was the daughter of the Titan Oceanus who wished to retain her virginity. Titan ended up rejecting Poseidon as too violent, so he fled to the Atlas Mountains. Love struck Poseidon sent the king of dolphins and the messenger Delphinus to find his love. When Delphinus found her, he promised her that if she married Poseidon, he would calm the seas.
