Effects such as depression, feelings of insecurity, suicide and more are all the result of women's unrealistic expectations of them. Technology has become so prominent in society that a huge percentage of women own a smartphone or participate in social media to some extent. A Neilson survey shows that “70% of teens ages 13 to 17 now use a smartphone, and 79% of young adults ages 18 to 24 own a smartphone” (Kerr). You rarely meet a girl who doesn't have one either. have a smartphone or have access to some sort of social network. It's a constant battle to live up to the appearance expectations these sites place on women. These are unnecessary pressures that women should never worry about. A girl should never be so insecure that she feels the need to kill herself based on what society considers beautiful. This just proves the dark world we live in. I personally believe that no one should ever feel worse about themselves based on how someone else may feel.
