  • Essay / Thematic paper on the story that Jake reimagined Written by:...

The dictionary.com definition of love is “a form of warm feeling or attachment toward another person.” This definition is important to my thematic article and my thematic statement in this essay. My theme is “Just because you are loved doesn’t mean everyone loves you.” In the first part of my essay, I will talk about my thematic statement, and then in the second half of the essay, I will connect my thematic statement to the story using quotes and personal analysis. The theme I came up with is not only important to the story of Jake Reimagined, but it is also important to life. Just because you're liked doesn't mean everyone likes you is a theme that runs throughout Jake's book Reinvented. I read the entire book and found 3 really good quotes from the book that I can use as examples of why my theme statement is so connected to the story of Jake Reimagined. Chapter 3 is a good example of this because Jennifer really pays a lot of attention towards Jake because she really likes Jake. However, Jake doesn't love Jennifer as much as he loves Didi, because all Jake does is focus on Didi all the time because he loves Didi. My reference comes from page 33 of chapter 3. "I didn't have a crush on her, nor did I have a crush on any other man on the planet, anyway." This shows that Jake thought Didi was cute, just like Didi and every other man on this planet. This is another good idea of my theme because it shows that it seems like everyone likes Jake but in reality Jennifer is mad at him because Jake doesn't look at her at all because Jake's attention is all over the place on Didi. Another example of my theme statement is in chapter 4. Jake and Didi start talking a lot because Didi is in the middle of a paper......and sending a group of new people to her next party. This stands out because it proves how much Jakes loves Didi, but just because everyone loves Jake doesn't mean Didi is completely in love with Jake. Technically the reader thinks Didi loved Jake, but now people reading the book are wondering what's going on and that's why I loved this book so much. Didi likes Jake but in this chapter Gordon Korman really makes it seem like Didi doesn't like Jake. I put 5 quotes and read the movie and for the reasons above I believe my theme statement is a real theme. to the book. It's a good book and I'm glad Mr. Larson let us read it. There is a lot of romantic tension in the story and that really makes this thematic article very easy to write since I enjoyed the book and it provides many good examples.
