Human trafficking is a serious crime which has affected more than 20 million women, men and children. Human trafficking has undoubtedly changed the lives of many people, and considerable international efforts have been made to find a way to stop human trafficking. While human trafficking causes so much damage to humanity as a whole, how can it be permanently stopped? My research would include exploring information on preventing human trafficking, protecting victims of human trafficking, and prosecuting human trafficking perpetrators. My interest in human trafficking began a few years ago when I learned that Atlanta was one of the worst cities in the country for human trafficking. Human trafficking has undoubtedly changed the lives of many people and there have been considerable international efforts to find a way to end human trafficking. While human trafficking causes so much damage to humanity as a whole, how can it be permanently stopped? The research focuses on information on preventing human trafficking, protecting victims of human trafficking, and prosecuting criminals involved in human trafficking. Men, women and children are sold into forced labor, prostitution and organ harvesting. Human trafficking is not only dangerous, but also constitutes an attack on human beings. A figure produced by the International Labor Organization (ILO) “estimates that 55 percent of victims of forced labor are women, but in the case of victims of sex trafficking, this figure rises to 98 percent (Jägers 47). Human trafficking poses a serious and global threat to society and human rights that must be eradicated. One way to destroy the dangers of human trafficking is to learn about human trafficking prevention in order to prevent it from happening. Polaris is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that was established not only to provide assistance to victims of human trafficking, but also to provide knowledge on human trafficking prevention. Survivors of human trafficking have access to social services, transitional housing, and safe shelter so victims can receive help. Additionally, Polaris reports that there are more than twenty million victims of human trafficking, with more than twenty thousand cases of human trafficking reported to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), a toll-free national helpline that victims can contact for support and information. with the aim of escaping human trafficking and finding safety. Polaris may also receive tips from people who report possible cases of human trafficking and provide training on detailed information on additional topics.
