Essay / Fear of Public Speaking Essay - 1021
Most of the time, the audience I primarily communicate with, other than my family and friends, are clients and classmates. But whoever the audience is, I can make them think and give their opinion or involve them in the subject by choosing a side or a point of view. Public speaking is also used in the job market to find out whether the potential candidate has the right to accept the position. Also in the job market, public speaking can help an employee get a well-deserved promotion. Public speaking is also used not only for job interviews but also to make our voice heard. For example, Martin Luther King's speech "I Have a Dream" created a statement that everyone should respect everyone equally, without racial prejudice. The speech was so powerful that it changed the way people viewed the African American community and Congress passed a set of laws that revised the Civil Rights Act. These laws gave more equal treatment to African Americans than they had ever been before.
