  • Essay / White Rose - 827

Before Hungary fell under the influence of the Nazi Party, there was a population of 825,000 Jews. This figure would soon change due to Adolf Hitler's hatred of Jews. In 1930, the Nazi Party took control, causing Hungary to fall under its influence. There was a population of 825,000 Jews in Hungary at the time, but this figure would soon change. Like Germany, they began to implement anti-Jewish laws and decrees. As it became clear that the Axis powers were going to lose the war, Hungary attempted to negotiate peace with the Allies. To prevent this, German forces occupied Hungary in 1944. In May 1944, the Germans rounded up Hungarian Jews, put them on trains, and deported them to concentration camps. Most were sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau, this concentration camp was the largest murder site for Jews brought to the camp as part of the Nazi plan to exterminate them. More than 1.1 million men, women and children lost their lives. By the time the Nazis carried out their plan to execute the Jews, there were only 255,000 Jews left in Hungary. In order for the Nazis to carry out the extermination of millions of Jews, they first had to prepare. The first thing they did was hire the "experts" Otto Moll, Karl Hocker, Richard Bar, Rudolf Hoss and Adolf Eichman. These “experts” came to Auschwitz and prepared it for the murder of millions of Jews. They reorganized and expanded the extermination machines so that they could operate efficiently and continuously. The crematoria were renovated: the ovens were relined, the chimneys were reinforced and the loading and unloading ramps were supplemented by a three-track rail system providing a direct connection to the death factories. These occupy the middle of the paper. Think of all the lives that have been lost because of one man's discrimination against another. I will now defend everyone who is treated poorly because they are different from others. Works Cited Braham, RandolfL. "Hungarian Jews: preparatory work at Auschwitz."
