    How has leadership evolved over the years and why? “Leadership is a relationship of influence between leaders and followers who desire real changes that reflect their mutual goals” (Rost, 1931). But in today's times, leadership styles change every time a new technology is invented or discovered, resulting in a lack of perseverance. The only thing that manages to remain constant is the principles of conducting business. There are philosophies and ideologies about leadership that can be used at any time because they mostly reflect the principles of leadership. Theorists and authors like Hobbes (1679), Lewin (1947) and Aristotle (384-322 BC) produced sufficient material in their time that can be used by modern day leaders and managers . Philosophers like Aristotle, known to be one of the most business oriented and practical philosophers of his time, his works are still used today by businesses due to their relevance as he is interested in definition of principles in terms of leadership ethics (Santa Clara University). In this essay, I have tried to show how leadership has adapted to the changes around it and in relation to the past, as well as the circumstances that necessitated change. As a layman, anyone might think that the principles of centuries ago would be very different from the ones we follow today, but after studying Hobbes, Lewin and Aristotle, it had a great impact on my way of thinking because the work they produced has even more relevance to some of the work being produced now. I have tried to explain the evolution of leadership through three aspects which are psychology, sociology and philosophy.
